Advertising policy

Current status

There are no advertisements on this site at present. Ads can only appear on published, reviewed guides, and none are published yet.

Where ads may appear

Ads (served by Google AdSense) may appear only on published, reviewed editorial guides that are marked as eligible — usually one or two clearly labeled placements in a long article. This is our design choice, not a rule imposed by any ad network.

Where ads never appear

• The urgent help page.
• All tools, including Find My Next Step and the Small Steps Garden, and any personal results.
• Drafts, previews, internal search and error pages.
• Privacy, terms, cookie and contact pages.
• The home page (in the first version).

These pages do not load ad code at all — we do not merely hide ads.

Separation from editorial content

• Every ad is labeled "Advertisement".
• Ads are placed away from help buttons, emergency links, navigation and print or download controls.
• Advertisers have no influence over our content. Ads are not medical recommendations.

Your health information

Tool entries, journal notes, garden activity, next-step choices and any inferred health interest are never used for advertising, targeting or remarketing. The Small Steps Garden will never contain rewarded ads or ad-gated features.

Consent

On pages that carry ads, choices are collected by Google's certified consent management platform: visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland see a consent message (with a "Do not consent" option) before personalized ads, and visitors in applicable U.S. states can opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information.
